The Ministry of Music at First Presby is open to all, members and friends alike. We strive to build community as we develop our skills to serve God in worship. None of our musicians "performs" in worship;  rather, we offer gifts of sound to our Creator. Musical offerings take place in every worship service, given by soloists and the various groups listed below. Click on the buttons below for descriptions and current events for each group:

Cherub Choir (grades K-2)  This choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6pm in the Susie  Early Room.  Through age-appropriate singing games and songs, Debbie  Eads and accompanist Toni Clendenin lead our youngest singers into  love and service of God.  For details about upcoming Cherub Choir  events, here

Music of the Angels (grades 3-5)  Our elementary-age choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6pm in  room 305 of the Education Building.  These older children learn to  sing and accompany themselves using Orff instruments and choir chimes.   The group is led by Mary Odin.  For details about upcoming Music of the Angels events, click here.

Geneva Choir (youth and adults)  Youth and adults are invited to sing in this choral group which  provides special anthems and leadership for congregational singing,  primarily at 11am and occasionally at 8:45am worship.  Geneva Choir  meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9pm in the Choir Room.  For  details about upcoming Geneva Choir events, click here

Capella Bell Choir (youth and adults)  Our bell choir offers its gifts in both Sunday morning worship  services roughly once a month.  Capella Bells meets on Thursday  evenings from 5:30-7pm in the  Lynch.  For details about upcoming Capella Bell Choir events, click  here

Worship Team (youth and adults)  Worship Team provides vocal and instrumental leadership for  congregational singing at both services each week.  The group consists  primarily of singers and guitarists, but other instruments are used as  well.  Worship Team meets in the Sanctuary on Wednesday evenings at 7  or 8pm, depending on the schedule of Division meetings.  For details  on about upcoming Worship Team events, click here

FPC Lyres Club (all ages)  Founded in November of 2007, the FPC Lyres Club is a group of folk  harp players who offer their gifts in worship and as an outreach to  the community.  No prior musical experience is necessary; instruments  are available for rent or purchase through the church.  The FPC Lyres  Club meets on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 in the Susie Early Room.    For details about upcoming Lyres Club events, click here.

Winter Weather policy: Evening rehearsals are automatically cancelled on days when Kanawha County Schools are cancelled or dismissed early due to weather. If school is out and you haven't heard otherwise from your director, you may safely assume your group is not rehearsing. This churchwide policy applies to adults and children alike.
